Fair Isle (Shetland) came up trumps today with the discovery of a superb male Pallas's Reed Bunting at Wirvie. This is the fifth British record, two of which have also been on Fair Isle. Staying on Shetland, a Great Snipe was found on Papa Stour and the Eye-browed Thrush continued to give good views at Gutcher, on Yell.

Elsewhere, a Red-rumped Swallow flew past Flamborough Head in Yorkshire, with other new discoveries being a White-rumped Sandpiper in County Louth, a Pacific Golden Plover in Aberdeenshire and a Red-footed Falcon in Cornwall.

Lingering rarities included the Western Sandpiper in Ayrshire, the Whiskered Tern in Cornwall, the American Black Tern in Northumberland, the Red-rumped Swallow in the Spurn area of Yorkshire and the Great Reed Warbler, also in Yorkshire.
