Discoveries today included a Bonaparte's Gull on the Orkney Isles on Papa Westray and in Somerset a Black Kite reported at Ham Wall. Rarities elsewhere comprised the American Black Tern still in Northumberland, Savi's Warbler and Great Reed Warbler still together in Cleveland, Black Kite in North Yorkshire, Red-footed Falcon in Kent, King Eider in Aberdeenshire, White-billed Diver in Highland, three Bee-eaters together in Norfolk, and Black-winged Stilts in Gloucestershire and South Yorkshire (2). Scarcities included White-winged Black Tern (Nottinghamshire), White-spotted Bluethroat (Gloucestershire), American Golden Plover (Norfolk), Common Rosefinch (Cumbria), Golden Oriole (County Cork), Red-backed Shrike (Lancashire), Pectoral Sandpiper (Suffolk), Surf Scoter (Aberdeenshire), Great Shearwater (Isles of Scilly), two each of both Glossy Ibis and Night Heron, and three of Marsh Warbler and Purple Heron. |
