The highlight of the day was the return of the Cape Gull to Grafham Water, Cambridgeshire where it was previously present between 1st-10th August 2022. Other discoveries included a Caspian Tern in Bedfordshire at Coronation Pit, in Suffolk a Greenish Warbler at Landguard and a Red-footed Falcon at Walberswick, and on the Shetland Isles a Subalpine Warbler species on Out Skerries, and a Blyth's Reed Warbler on Foula. Rarities elsewhere were the Least Tern still in County Dublin, Little Crake still singing in Cambridgeshire, Pacific Golden Plover briefly in Lothian, American Black Tern in Northumberland, Great Reed Warbler in Somerset, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Wexford, Red-footed Falcon and three Bee-eaters in Norfolk, King Eider in Aberdeenshire, White-billed Diver in Highland, and Black-winged Stilts in Carmarthenshire, Gloucestershire, Norfolk (2), and South Yorkshire (2). Scarcities included White-spotted Bluethroat (Gloucestershire), Short-toed Lark (Orkney Isles), American Golden Plover and Rose-coloured Starling (Norfolk), Night Heron (Cambridgeshire), two each of Common Rosefinch and Cory's Shearwater, four of Icterine Warbler, Purple Heron, and Glossy Ibis, and six Marsh Warblers. |
