New discoveries today consisted of the confirmation of a Hooded Merganser in Cumbria, a Red-rumped Swallow in Kent, and an early Savi's Warbler in Cheshire. Existing rarities today comprised the Ross's Gull in Aberdeenshire, two Long-billed Dowitchers in Norfolk and Orkney respectively, two Lesser Scaup in Somerset and Western Isles respectively, Lesser Yellowlegs in Devon, Gull-billed Tern in Devon, Eastern Yellow Wagtail in Suffolk, Alpine Swift in Devon, and three White-billed Divers in Moray. The Black-winged Stilt influx continued with 23 logged today across five counties comprising seven in Britain and 16 in Ireland. Scarcities included nine Night Herons, Serin, two Wryneck, Montagu's Harrier, four Purple Herons, Great Grey Shrike, Hoopoe, nine Glossy Ibises, five Iceland Gulls, three Glaucous Gulls, Richard's Pipit, Lapland Bunting, Waxwing, four Surf Scoters, five Woodchat Shrikes, Kumlien's Gull, two Tundra Bean Geese, and 13 Ring-necked Ducks. |
