The highlight of the day was the discovery of a first-winter American Herring Gull in County Cork at Sherkin Island albeit just a brief encounter.

Rarities elsewhere comprised the Isabelline Wheatear still in Cornwall, Pallid Harrier, Richardson's Cackling Goose, Long-billed Dowitcher, and Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk, Hume's Warblers in both Kent and Somerset, King Eider in Cleveland, and Lesser Scaup in Surrey.

Scarcities included Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), Rose-coloured Starling (Cornwall), Rough-legged Buzzard (Shetland Isles), Surf Scoter (Anglesey), Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), Green-winged Teal (Northumberland), two each of Pallas's Warbler, Ring-billed Gull, and American Wigeon, six Glossy Ibises, nine Ring-necked Ducks, 16 Shorelarks, and a total of 22 Waxwings.
