Rarities today comprised the Harlequin Duck still on the Western Isles, Baikal Teal in Nottinghamshire, Isabelline Wheatear in Cornwall, Black Duck in County Mayo, Pallid Harrier, Long-billed Dowitcher, and two Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler and Kentish Plover in Somerset, King Eider in Cleveland, Lesser Scaups in both Somerset and Surrey, and Penduline Tits in County Cork (3) and Somerset. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Kent), Sabine's Gull and Black Brant (Hampshire), American Wigeon (Northumberland), Yellow-browed Warbler (Lancashire), Lapland Bunting (Norfolk), two each of both Ring-billed Gull and Surf Scoter, three of Kumlien's Gull and Glossy Ibis, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, 16 Shorelarks, and a total of 40 Waxwings. |
