The highlight of the day was a Hume's Warbler identified in Somerset at Compton Dando whilst other over-wintering individuals remain in both Kent and Norfolk. Rarities elsewhere comprised the White-winged Scoter still in County Mayo, Greater Yellowlegs in County Waterford, Baikal Teal in Powys, Pallid Harrier and two Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, three Penduline Tits together in Kent, King Eider in Cleveland, Kentish Plover in Somerset, and Lesser Scaups in both Somerset and Surrey. Scarcities included Sabine's Gull (Hampshire), American Wigeon (Somerset), Yellow-browed Warbler (Lancashire), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of Ring-billed Gull, Lapland Bunting, Green-winged Teal, and Black Brant, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, 17 Shorelarks, and a total of 37 Waxwings. |
