  New discoveries today included a Baird's Sandpiper at Meikle Loch, Aberdeenshire, a Red-footed Falcon at St Austell, Cornwall and a White-billed Diver off Whalsay, Shetland, and the Black Scoter returned to Cocklawburn, Northumberland for at least its eighth year.

Lingering rarities seen today included the Roller in Devon, Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, Semipalmated Sandpiper in Orkney and Long-billed Dowitcher in Shetland.

Scarcity highlights included a Bluethroat, a Hoopoe, a Rose-coloured Starling, two Melodious Warblers, three Barred Warblers, five Red-backed Shrikes, six Wrynecks, seven Common Rosefinches, nine Lapland Buntings, a Night Heron, a Purple Heron, three Glossy Ibises, a Corncrake, a Honey Buzzard, a Dotterel, a Grey Phalarope, a Temminck's Stint, an American Golden Plover, a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 11 Pectoral Sandpipers, two Surf Scoters, two Long-tailed Skuas, five Pomarine Skuas, two Glaucous Gulls, five Sabine's Gulls, a Roseate Tern, 18 Cory's Shearwaters, 27 Great Shearwaters and two Leach's Petrels.
