  Rarities today comprised the Cape Gull still in Cambridgeshire at Grafham Water, Harlequin Duck on the Shetland Isles, Turkestan Shrike in East Yorkshire, Squacco Heron in West Sussex, Black Kite in Ceredigion, White-rumped Sandpiper in Leicestershire, both Lesser Yellowlegs and Wilson's Petrel in the Isles of Scilly, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, a Black Kite briefly in Lothian, at least two Bee-eaters in Norfolk, and Ferruginous Ducks in both Northamptonshire and Warwickshire (2).

Scarcities included Night Heron (Kent), Barred Warbler (Northumberland), Rose-coloured Starling (Shetland Isles), Spotted Crake (Devon), Surf Scoter (Aberdeenshire), Temminck's Stint (West Sussex), Long-tailed Skua (South Yorkshire), two Pectoral Sandpipers, three each of both Purple Heron and Great Shearwater, and a total of 15 Glossy Ibises.

Late news concerned up to 49 Wilson's Petrels noted at sea off County Cork in recent days.
