| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Hume's Yellow-browed Warbler
in Dorset at Portland, at least the seventh individual to be located between Britain and Ireland since 22nd October. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Dusky Thrush in Derbyshire, Killdeer on the Shetland Isles, Masked Wagtail in Pembrokeshire, Pallid Harrier in East Yorkshire, Desert Wheatear in Devon, Eastern Black Redstarts in both Cleveland and Lothian, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in County Galway, and in County Sligo two King Eiders and a Richardson's Cackling Goose. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (West Sussex), Glossy Ibis (Essex), Ring-billed Gull (County Galway), three American Wigeons, four each of both Ring-necked Duck and Surf Scoter, five of Great Grey Shrike and Lapland Bunting, 25 Shorelarks and 33 Cattle Egrets |
