| Rarities today comprised the Roller and Western Bonelli's Warbler both still on the Orkney Isles,
Semipalmated Sandpiper in Lothian, Snowy Owl on the Western Isles, Long-billed Dowitcher
in Gloucestershire, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset and Glossy Ibis in Essex. Scarcities included Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Cheshire), White-winged Black Tern (Cleveland and Suffolk), Purple Heron (Cambridgeshire, Gloucestershire and Kent), Red-backed Shrike (Suffolk), Pectoral Sandpiper (County Durham and Hampshire) and Caspian Gull (South Yorkshire). |
