Sunday 29th July 2012
The highlight of the day was a smart adult Semipalmated Sandpiper in Lothian at Tyninghame Bay, where it showed well this afternoon. This is the second record for the county, following a juvenile at the same site in 2010.

Lingering rarities still present today included the Roller in Orkney, Long-billed Dowitcher in Gloucestershire, Bee-eater in Hampshire, Iberian Chiffchaff in Somerset and Glossy Ibis in Pembrokeshire.

Scarcity highlights included a Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Cheshire), two Purple Herons (Kent and Gloucestershire), three White-winged Black Terns (Surrey, Suffolk and Northumberland), three Pectoral Sandpipers (Hampshire, Aberdeenshire and County Durham), four White Storks (Somerset), a Long-tailed Skua (Dorset), a Sabine's Gull (Highland) and a Grey Phalarope (Pembrokeshire).
