Friday 6th July 2012
The highlight of the day was the discovery of single Caspian Terns at both Minsmere, Suffolk, and Brownsea Island, Dorset. Elsewhere, a Black Stork was located in Highland, at Loch Fleet.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised the Black Scoter with five Surf Scoters in Aberdeenshire, Paddyfield Warbler on the Shetland isles, and Glossy Ibis in Suffolk.

Scarcities included Icterine Warbler (Lothian), Rose-coloured Starling (County Donegal), Hoopoe (London), Red-backed Shrike (Northumberland), and Surf Scoter (Angus).

A noticeable arrival of Wood Sandpipers totalled 35 individuals across seven counties between Worcestershire, Kent and Northumberland, including 13 together at Beccles, Suffolk.
