Saturday 7th July 2012
The wader season certainly seems to have commenced today, with Shetland's second Marsh Sandpiper (the first since 1969), and single White-rumped Sandpipers in Lincolnshire (Frampton Marsh RSPB) and County Wexford (Rosslare Back Strand).

The only lingering rarities seen today were Glossy Ibises, with singles still in Suffolk, Pembrokeshire and County Wexford.

Scarcity highlights involved an Icterine Warbler in Lothian, Red-backed Shrike in Northumberland, Serin in Suffolk, American Wigeon in Orkney and Golden Oriole in Suffolk.
