  New discoveries included a brief Roller in Devon, Laughing Gull in Gloucestershire, Black-winged Stilt in Fife, King Eider on Western Isles and Black Kite in Co Cork, whilst a Scops Owl was reported singing in Highland.

In East Yorkshire the possible Atlas Flycatcher continued to provoke much internet discussion, whilst lingering rarities elsewhere included Black-winged Stilts in Devon (2) and Lincolnshire, Black Kite in Pembrokeshire, Red-breasted Goose in Dumfries & Galloway, Red-rumped Swallow in Cleveland, American Golden Plover in Co Kerry and White-billed Diver in Moray.

The best of the rest included Serin in Dorset, Red-necked Phalarope in Powys, Woodchat Shrike in Cornwall, Red-backed Shrike in Co Cork, Melodious Warbler in Kent and Hoopoe in Cornwall.
