| The first Iberian Chiffchaff for Ireland was discovered at Brownstown
Head, County Waterford today, continuing this record breaking year for the
species. Also in Ireland, a Black-winged Stilt was seen in County Armagh
yesterday evening, as it flew over Portadown. The Forster's Tern
reappeared at Tacumshin, County Wexford, with the Glossy Ibis also
confirmed as still present.
Back in Britain, the Great Reed Warbler was still singing and showing well at Straws Bridge, Derbyshire, and the drake Blue-winged Teal showed all day at Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB, Cambridgeshire (it was seen to be bearing a metal ring upon closer views this evening). A Bee-eater was seen again at Cemlyn, Anglesey, single Iberian Chiffchaffs were heard in Yorkshire and Gwent but there was no sign of the male Marmora's Warbler at Blorenge. Scarcity highlights included a Red-necked Phalarope in Lincolnshire, Hoopoe in London, single Common Rosefinches in Kent and Perth and Kinross, Marsh Warbler and White Stork in Yorkshire, White-spotted Bluethroat and Roseate Tern in Norfolk, Ring-necked Duck in Fife, two Purple Herons in Kent and several Honey Buzzards and Spoonbills. |
