Thursday 17th June 2010
The quietest day of the year so far, with no new rarities found. The headline bird was the male Little Shearwater, which was heard again overnight in the Manx Shearwater colony on Lundy, Devon. Other summering rarities consisted of Great Reed Warbler in Derbyshire, single Iberian Chiffchaffs in Gwent and Yorkshire, King Eider in Aberdeenshire and Glossy Ibis in County Wexford. The wandering drake Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire relocated to Berry Fen, Bluntisham.

A male Serin sang on St Agnes, Scilly mid morning. Males on territory included Marsh Warbler at Edderthorpe, Yorkshire, White-spotted Bluethroat at Welney, Norfolk and Common Rosefinch at Glendeven, Perth and Kinross. The Red-necked Phalarope was seen early morning only at Frampton Marsh RSPB, Lincolnshire, with other scarcities consisting of a Dotterel on Unst, Shetland, Rose-coloured Starling on Barra, Western Isles, Temminck's Stint at Loch of Strathbeg RSPB, Aberdeenshire, Purple Heron at Dungeness, Kent and several Honey Buzzards and Spoonbills.
