Sunday 10th January 2010
The highlight of the day was confirmation of the identity of a juvenile Pallid Harrier in Cornwall at Sennen, then later near Madron at Men-an-Tol. This bird had been first seen in the area on 4th December but was not conclusively identified, and has proved elusive since.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present today comprised the Forster's Tern in County Galway, Baird's Sandpiper in Lothian, Little Bunting in Highland, Spotted Sandpiper and Red-breasted Goose in Devon, Richardson's Canada Goose in Argyll, Lesser Scaup in Glamorgan and Ferruginous Duck in County Armagh.

Scarcities present included 18 Caspian Gulls, eleven each of Lapland Bunting and Iceland Gull, nine each of Ring-billed Gull and Glaucous Gull, six Black Brants, three each of Green-winged Teal and Waxwing, two each of Surf Scoter, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Snow Goose (together in Aberdeenshire), Great White Egret, Great Grey Shrike and Shorelark (Norfolk) and single Serin (London), Cattle Egret (Cornwall) and Grey Phalarope (Norfolk).
