  Rarities in Britain today comprised the Bufflehead still in Gwynedd, a Zitting Cisticola still in Suffolk, three Penduline Tits together in Gloucestershire, Kentish Plover in Somerset, King Eiders in both Highland and Shetland, Bonaparte's Gull and Richardson's Cackling Goose in Argyll, Dusky Warbler in Cornwall, Lesser Scaups in Cornwall (2) and Essex, and Ferruginous Ducks in Hertfordshire and Lincolnshire.

In Ireland the Harlequin Duck remained in County Donegal, as did the Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, both Bufflehead and Black Duck in County Kerry, a Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Spotted Sandpiper in County Waterford, and a Richardson's Cackling Goose in County Sligo.
