| The first Yellow-crowned Night Heron for Ireland, first seen several months ago by local residents, was at Belcarra, County Mayo, and was seen by visiting birders this evening. The first Green Warbler for Northumberland was found on Holy Island, and the second Crag Martin for Cornwall (following the first for Britain in 1988) was near St Ives.
A Little Bittern was also in Cornwall, at Kenidjack Valley, with other new discoveries including Rustic Buntings on Out Skerries and Foula, both Shetland, Blyth's Reed Warblers at Blakeney and Winterton, both Norfolk, a Red-rumped Swallow at Bockhill, Kent and a Red-footed Falcon at Swinister, Shetland. Lingering rarities still present included the Great Reed Warbler in Cambridgeshire, Savi's Warbler in Yorkshire, two Rustic Buntings and a Subalpine Warbler species in Shetland, two Red-footed Falcons in Kent and one in Cumbria, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Louth and American Black Tern in Northumberland. |
