The Pacific Swift put in another appearance on Shetland today, again on Mainland, this time over the Pool of Virkie, although it did not stick around. A Roller was found at Brading Marshes on the Isle of Wight and a Marsh Sandpiper was discovered at Dungeness in Kent, where a Caspian Tern flew south over North Foreland. In Cornwall a Bee-eater flew over St. Levan. Wilson's Petrels flew past the Mullet in County Mayo, Galley Head in County Cork and Pendeen in Cornwall. The Least Tern was again in the Little Tern colony at Portrane in County Dublin. Other lingering rarities included the Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, the Lesser Scaup and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk and Pacific Golden Plover in Orkney. Scarcities included Purple Heron, Pectoral Sandpiper,Temminck's Stint, Ring-necked Duck and American Wigeon |
