The highlight of the day was the discovery of a male Baikal Teal in Gwynedd at Foryd Bay. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Double-crested Cormorant still in County Leitrim, both White-winged Scoter and Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, Isabelline Wheatear in Cornwall, Pallid Harrier, Long-billed Dowitcher, Richardson's Cackling Goose, and three Ferruginous Ducks all in Norfolk, Hume's Warblers in both Kent and Somerset, Kentish Plover in Somerset, King Eiders in Cleveland and Lothian, Lesser Scaups in Somerset, Surrey, and the Western Isles, and in Fife the Pacific Diver was reported again. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (County Durham), Little Bunting and Rose-coloured Starling (Cornwall), Richard's Pipit (Dorset), Sabine's Gull and Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Lancashire), two Glossy Ibises, three of both Surf Scoter and American Wigeon, four Green-winged Teals, five Ring-billed Gulls, eight Waxwings, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 18 Shorelarks. |
