Rarities today comprised the Double-crested Cormorant still in County Leitrim, Isabelline Wheatear still in Gwynedd, Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, both Pallid Harrier and Hume's Warbler in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler in Northumberland, Penduline Tit in East Sussex, Red-flanked Bluetail and Dusky Warbler (2) on the Isles of Scilly, King Eider in Cleveland, and Dusky Warbler and Cackling Goose on the Western Isles.

Scarctities included Pallas's Warbler (Dorset), Richard's Pipit (Scilly), Great Grey Shrike (Hampshire), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two each of Little Bunting, Lapland Bunting, Surf Scoter, and Sabine's Gull, three Glossy Ibises, four of Ring-necked Duck and Yellow-browed Warbler, 14 Shorelarks, and a total of 194 Waxwings.

In the Staffordshire the Hooded Merganser found yesterday proved to be a ringed escape.
