Discoveries today included White-billed Divers on the Orkney Isles on Sanday and the Shetland Isles at Lerwick, and in East Sussex now five Penduline Tits at West Rise Marsh. Lingering rarities included the Myrtle Warbler and Dusky Warbler both still on the Isles of Scilly, Hooded Merganser in County Mayo, Pallid Harrier and two Ferruginous Ducks in Norfolk, Hume's Warblers in County Durham and Northumberland, Spotted Sandpiper in Essex, Bonaparte's Gull in County Antrim, and Lesser Scaup in County Donegal. Scarcities included Long-tailed Skua (Aberdeenshire), Black Brant (East Yorkshire), two each of Rough-legged Buzzard and American Wigeon, three of Great Grey Shrike, Green-winged Teal, and Lapland Bunting, 12 Shorelarks, 13 Glossy Ibises, 17 Ring-necked Ducks, 25 Great Shearwaters, and a total of 291 Waxwings. |
