| The highlight of the day was the discovery of an Elegant Tern in County Wexford at Lady's Island Lake. Rarities elsewhere comprised both the Turkestan Shrike and Black-browed Albatross still together in East Yorkshire, American Black Tern in Northumberland, Wilson's Petrel at sea off the Isles of Scilly, King Eider in Lothian, and Bee-eaters in both Norfolk (6) and Suffolk. Scarcities included Surf Scoter (Northumberland), Night Heron (West Sussex), Serin (Somerset), two Temminck's Stints (Lincolnshire and Norfolk), and a total of 10 Glossy Ibises. Significant late news concerned a Snowy Owl present yesterday on the Shetland Isles at Ronas Hill, Mainland. |
