New discoveries today included a Pallid Harrier over Titchfield Haven, Hampshire, a Black Kite over Winterton, Norfolk and another over Stanway Green, Essex, a Lesser Yellowlegs at Clonakilty, County Cork and a Lesser Scaup at Chew Valley Lake, Somerset.
Lingering rarities seen today included the Belted Kingfisher in Lancashire, Black-browed Albatross in Yorkshire, Dusky Warblers in Norfolk and London, Blue-winged Teal in Cambridgeshire, King Eider in Highland, Lesser Scaups in Essex and Western Isles, Pacific Golden Plover and Lesser Yellowlegs in Suffolk and Black-winged Stilt in Carmarthenshire. Scarcity highlights included a Red-breasted Flycatcher, a Great Grey Shrike, a Rose-coloured Starling, two Little Buntings, seven Hoopoes, six Dotterel, a Spotted Crake, two Corncrakes, a Green-winged Teal, three Surf Scoters, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, a Black Brant, 19 Glossy Ibises, a Pomarine Skua, a Ring-billed Gulls, six Glaucous Gulls and eight Iceland Gulls. |
