The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Pacific Golden Plover in Suffolk at Carlton Marshes, with other arrivals including a
Lesser Scaup in Essex at Abberton Reservoir, and a White-billed Diver in Highland at Embo. Rarities elsewhere comprised the Belted Kingfisher still in Lancashire, White-tailed Lapwing in Lincolnshire, Black-browed Albatross and Baikal Teal both in East Yorkshire, Semipalmated Plover in County Cork, American Coot in County Wexford, Hume's Warbler in East Sussex, Dusky Warbler in Norfolk, Blue-winged Teals in both Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire, Bonaparte's Gull in West Sussex, King Eiders in Highland and Lothian, Lesser Scaups in County Cork and the Western Isles, and White-billed Divers in Aberdeenshire (4) and Moray (5). Scarcities included Pectoral Sandpiper and Ring-billed Gull (County Cork), Surf Scoter (Lothian), Temminck's Stint (Essex then Kent), Snow Goose (Lancashire), Great Grey Shrike (Norfolk), Kumlien's Gull (Cambridgeshire), two Spotted Crakes, four Shorelarks, five Green-winged Teals, 28 Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 31 Glossy Ibises. |
