  The highlight of the day an Alpine Swift that flew west over Chilling, Hampshire this evening; the first of the year.

Rarities elsewhere comprised the Belted Kingfisher still in Lancashire, White-tailed Lapwing in Lincolnshire, Baikal Teal in East Yorkshire, Blue-winged Teals in Buckinghamshire and County Wexford, two Penduline Tits together in Somerset, Dusky Warbler in Norfolk, King Eider in Highland, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Wexford, Lesser Scaups in both Clyde (2) and Dumfries and Galloway.

Scarcities included Spotted Crake (Devon), Temminck's Stint (Kent), Ring-billed Gull (Argyll), Yellow-browed Warbler (Dorset), two Hoopoes, three Great Grey Shrikes, four each of Shorelark and Green-winged Teal, eight Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 29 Glossy Ibises.
