Discoveries today included an Isabelline Wheatear in Norfolk at Cley, and
yet more Lesser Scaups with two together in Devon at Beesands Ley, and now a record five together on Islay, Argyll. A
Long-toed Stint was found in Cumbria but the site was not revealed. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Killdeer in Argyll, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, Forster's Tern in County Galway, Red-flanked Bluetail in Norfolk, Spotted Sandpiper on the Isles of Scilly, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Wexford, Lesser Scaups in both County Cavan and the Western Isles, and now three Cackling Geese together on the Western Isles. Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Dorset), American Golden Plover (Cornwall), Pectoral Sandpiper (County Durham), Yellow-browed Warbler (Isles of Scilly), Green-winged Teal (Somerset), two each of Ring-billed Gull, American Wigeon, Snow Goose, and Great Grey Shrike, six of Surf Scoter, Lapland Bunting, and Glossy Ibis, and a total of seven Ring-necked Ducks. |
