The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Radde's Warbler in Cornwall at Cot Valley. Rarities elsewhere comprised the
American Coot still in County Wexford, White-tailed Lapwing still in East Yorkshire,
Pied Wheatear in County Durham, White-winged Scoter and King Eider together in Lothian,
both Black Scoter and King Eider in Moray, two Red-breasted Geese together in Essex, Bonaparte's Gull
in Northumberland, and Dusky Warblers in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (2). Scarcities included Pectoral Sandpiper (Devon), Richard's Pipit (Cornwall), Long-tailed Skua (East Yorkshire), three each of Ring-necked Duck, Great Grey Shrike, Lapland Bunting, and Little Auk, five Yellow-browed Warblers, six Shorelarks, eight Glossy Ibises, and a total of 10 Surf Scoters. |
