  Rarities today comprised the American Coot still in County Wexford, Black-throated Thrush on the Shetland Isles, White-winged Scoter and King Eider together in Lothian, both Black Scoter and King Eider in Moray, Pied Wheatear in County Durham, two Red-breasted Geese together in Essex, Snowy Owl on the Western Isles, Spotted Sandpiper and two Dusky Warblers on the Isles of Scilly, Bonaparte's Gull in Northumberland, Dusky Warbler in Norfolk, Ferruginous Duck in Staffordshire, and in County Galway the age-old Forster's Tern again returned to Galway Bay; where it was first seen 18 years ago.

Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler (Norfolk), Serin (Pembrokeshire), Little Bunting (East Sussex), Richard's Pipit (Somerset), Rough-legged Buzzard (Suffolk), American Golden Plover (County Cork), American Wigeon (Bedfordshire), Pectoral Sandpiper (Devon), Grey Phalarope (Shropshire), Yellow-browed Warbler (Scilly), two Green-winged Teals, three Great Grey Shrikes, four each of both Surf Scoter and Lapland Bunting, eight Waxwings, 11 Ring-necked Ducks, 13 Glossy Ibises, and a total of 16 Shorelarks.
