New discoveries today included a Red-breasted Goose at Wrangle, Lincolnshire, single Semipalmated Sandpipers at Killimer, County Clare and at Clachan, Tiree, Argyll, and a Red-rumped Swallow flew over Mundesley, Norfolk.
Lingering rarities seen today included the American Buff-bellied Pipit in Western Isles, White-tailed Lapwing in Yorkshire, Wilson's Phalarope in Cheshire /Flintshire, Baird's Sandpipers in Scilly and County Kerry, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Wexford, Black-browed Albatross in Yorkshire, Squacco Heron in Flintshire, Forster's Tern in County Louth, two King Eiders in Shetland and Balearic Woodchat Shrike in Scilly. Scarcity highlights included a Little Bunting, a Lapland Bunting, a Yellow-browed Warbler, two Hoopoes, two Red-backed Shrikes, three Red-breasted Flycatchers, three Wrynecks, three Barred Warblers, four Common Rosefinches, six Rose-coloured Starlings, an American Golden Plover, a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 25 Pectoral Sandpipers, a Spotted Crake, a Honey Buzzard, a Purple Heron, six Glossy Ibises, two Ring-necked Ducks, a Bean Goose species, a Great Shearwater, nine Balearic Shearwaters, 10 Leach's Petrels, 12 Sabine's Gulls, a Roseate Tern, four Long-tailed Skuas and 27 Pomarine Skuas. |
