A Hume's Warbler found in a garden near Portesham, Dorset, was the day's sole new discovery.

Ongoing rarities were represented by Eastern Yellow Wagtail on Scilly, Hume's Warbler in East Sussex, Pacific Diver in Cornwall, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Richardson's Cackling Goose in Western Isles, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire and Dumfries and Galloway, Bonaparte's Gull in London, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset and Cornwall, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire and three Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Norfolk.

Scarcities included a Pallas's Warbler, two Serins, a Lapland Bunting, three Rough-legged Buzzards, nine Yellow-browed Warblers, 21 Shorelarks, two Rose-coloured Starlings, five Great Grey Shrikes, a Todd's Canada Goose, five Tundra Bean Geese, three Surf Scoters, two American Wigeon, a Green-winged Teal, five Ring-necked Ducks, a Kumlien's Gull, 13 Iceland Gulls and 14 Glaucous Gulls.

Thursday 24th January 2019  
  Lingering rarities seen today included the Eastern Yellow Wagtail in Scilly, Penduline Tit in Kent, Pacific Diver in Cornwall, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, Richardson's Cackling Goose in Western Isles and Bonaparte's Gull in London.

Scarcity highlights included a Pallas's Warbler, two Lapland Buntings, two Rose-coloured Starlings, five Yellow-browed Warblers, five Great Grey Shrikes, six Shorelarks, four Rough-legged Buzzards, a Kumlien's Gull, three American Wigeons, three Green-winged Teals, four Ring-necked Ducks, four Surf Scoters, two Black Brants, five Tundra Bean Geese and 18 Glossy Ibises.

Wednesday 23rd January 2019  
  Rarities today comprised the Eastern Yellow Wagtail still on the Isles of Scilly, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Bonaparte's Gull in London, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall and Dorset, Lesser Scaup in both Dumfries and Galloway and Staffordshire, Ferruginous Duck in Hampshire and Richardson's Cackling Goose on the Western Isles.

Scarcities included Pallas's Warbler and Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), Common Rosefinch (Shetland Isles), Richard's Pipit (Somerset), Lesser Snow Goose (Aberdeenshire), two each of Rose-coloured Starling and American Wigeon, three of Ring-necked Duck, Great Grey Shrike and Lapland Bunting, five Rough-legged Buzzards, seven of Yellow-browed Warbler and Glossy Ibis, and a total of 22 Shorelarks.

Tuesday 22nd January 2019  
  Rarities today comprised the Blyth's Reed Warbler still in Greater Manchester, Hume's Warbler in East Sussex, Bonaparte's Gull in London, Lesser Yellowlegs in Cornwall, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Richardson's Cackling Goose on the Western Isles, a White-billed Diver passing the Orkney Isles and a Lesser Scaup confirmed as present on Loch Ryan, Dumfries and Galloway for a fortnight.

Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Conwy), three American Wigeon, four Rough-legged Buzzard, six each of Yellow-browed Warbler and Ring-necked Duck, eight Great Grey Shrikes, 21 Glossy Ibises, and a total of 29 Shorelarks.

Monday 21st January 2019  
  Rarities today comprised a Penduline Tit new in Kent at Grove Ferry, Eastern Yellow Wagtail still on the Isles of Scilly, Hume's Warbler still in East Sussex, Dusky Warbler in Lincolnshire, at least one Pacific Diver in Cornwall, Bonaparte's Gull in London, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire and Ferruginous Duck in Hampshire.

Scarcities included Temminck's Stint (Cornwall), Great Grey Shrike (Glamorgan), two each of Rose-coloured Starling and Glossy Ibis, three of Lapland Bunting and American Wigeon, five Rough-legged Buzzards, six of Yellow-browed Warbler and Ring-necked Duck, and a total of 12 Shorelarks.

Significant late news concerned a Blyth's Reed Warbler present yesterday in Greater Manchester at Hope Carr whilst in County Cork the American Herring Gull remained near Cahermore.

Sunday 20th January 2019  
  Rarities today comprised a Bonaparte's Gull new in London at Erith, Hume's Warbler still in East Sussex, Dusky Warbler and Long-billed Dowitcher both still in Lincolnshire, Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Lesser Yellowlegs in both Cornwall and Dorset, Lesser Scaup in County Galway, Hampshire and Staffordshire, Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Borders and Lothian, and Richardson's Cackling Goose on the Western Isles.

Scarcities included Temminck's Stint and two Serins (Cornwall), two Rose-coloured Starlings, three each of both American Wigeon and Surf Scoter, four Great Grey Shrikes, five Rough-legged Buzzards, six Lapland Buntings, eight Ring-necked Ducks, 10 Yellow-browed Warblers, 24 Glossy Ibises and a total of 51 Shorelarks.

  Lingering rarities still present today included the Eastern Yellow Wagtail in Scilly, Hume's Warbler in Sussex, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Lothian, Black Scoter in Northumberland, Lesser Scaup in Staffordshire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset and Spotted Sandpiper in County Wexford.

Scarcity highlights included a Serin, a Great Grey Shrike, a Rose-coloured Starling, two Lapland Buntings, nine Yellow-browed Warblers, 61 Shorelarks, a Temminck's Stint, seven Rough-legged Buzzards, two American Wigeon, four Surf Scoters, seven Ring-necked Ducks, six Tundra Bean Geese, two Kumlien's Gulls, three Ring-billed Gulls, 12 Glaucous Gulls, 14 Iceland Gulls and 18 Glossy Ibises.

Friday 18th January 2019  
  Lingering rarities comprised Hume's Warbler (East Sussex), Dusky Warbler and Long-billed Dowitcher (Lincolnshire), Black Scoter (Northumberland), Lesser Scaup (Staffordshire), Lesser Yellowlegs (Cornwall and Dorset) and Spotted Sandpiper (Co Wexford). A Lapland Bunting (Cleveland), Green-winged Teal (Co Wexford), Black Brant (Essex), three Rose-coloured Starlings, American Wigeons and Great Grey Shrikes, up to four Rough-legged Buzzards, four Yellow-browed Warblers, Ring-necked Ducks and Surf Scoters, 11 Glossy Ibises and 41 Shorelarks.

Continuing rarities comprised the Hume's Warbler in East Sussex, two Coues's Arctic Redpolls in Lothian, Lesser Scaups in Staffordshire and Somerset, Ferruginous Duck in Hampshire, White-billed Diver in Western Isles.

Scarcities included four Great Grey Shrikes, a Lapland Bunting, 20 Shorelarks, a Rose-coloured Starling, a Serin, 12 Yellow-browed Warblers, four Rough-legged Buzzards, two Ring-billed Gulls, 10 Iceland Gulls, 11 Glaucous Gulls, 21 Glossy Ibises, a Todd's Canada Goose, a Black Brant, eight Taiga Bean Geese, nine Tundra Bean Geese, two American Wigeon, two Surf Scoters, two Green-winged Teal and six Ring-necked Ducks.

Wednesday 16th January 2019  
 

Long-stayers included Hume's Warbler in East Sussex, Long-billed Dowitcher in Lincolnshire, Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Lothian and Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset. Lesser Scaups continued their stays in Staffordshire and Somerset.

Scarcities included two Rose-coloured Starlings, eight Shorelarks, four Great Grey Shrikes, five Yellow-browed Warblers, 21 Glossy Ibises, a Ring-billed Gull, a Kumlien's Gull, eight Iceland Gulls, seven Glaucous Gulls, an American Wigeon, three Green-winged Teal, three Ring-necked Ducks, five Taiga Bean Geese, three Tundra Bean Geese and two Bean Goose sp.
