| The highlight of the day was the discovery of an Alpine Swift - the third so far this month - in Clyde at Baron's Haugh, where it lingered all afternoon. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Blue Rock Thrush in Gloucestershire, Northern Harrier on the Orkney Isles, Killdeer on the Shetland Isles, Pallid Harrier in Norfolk, Hume's Warbler in Dorset, Bonaparte's Gull in Cornwall, King Eider in County Kerry and Ferruginous Duck in Northumberland. Scarcities included Hoopoe (Cornwall), Bluethroat (Lincolnshire), Rose-coloured Starling (West Sussex), Little Bunting (Bedfordshire), American Wigeon (Ayrshire), two Lapland Buntings, four each of Glossy Ibis and Green-winged Teal, six of Ring-billed Gull, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Snow Goose and Shorelark, seven Surf Scoters, 16 Great Grey Shrikes, and a total of 51 Cattle Egrets. |
