| Rarities today comprised Pine Buntings in both Kent and North Yorkshire,
Blue Rock Thrush in Gloucestershire, Killdeer and White-billed Diver on the Shetland Isles,
Pacific Divers in both Cornwall and Northumberland, White-billed Diver
inland in Cambridgeshire, Pallid Harrier in East Yorkshire, Hooded Merganser in Clyde,
Eastern Black Redstarts in Cleveland and Cornwall, Red-breasted Goose in Lancashire,
Lesser Yellowlegs in Dorset and Ferruginous Duck in County Durham. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (West Sussex), Ring-billed Gull (County Wicklow), Surf Scoter (Fife), Glossy Ibis (Aberdeenshire), Kumlien's Gull (County Donegal), two each of Little Bunting, Lapland Bunting and Ring-necked Duck, three Rough-legged Buzzards, four American Wigeons, nine Great Grey Shrikes, 25 Cattle Egrets, and a total of 67 Shorelarks. Significant late news concerned a Snowy Owl yesterday near Aghagower, County Mayo. |
