The higlight of the day was the discovery of a territorial Greenish Warbler in Lancashire at Edgworth. Elsewhere, a Red-rumped Swallow was on the Shetland Isles at Asta, and a Wilson's Petrel flew past Porthgwarra, Cornwall.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present comprised both the Bonaparte's Gull and Black Kite in Kent, Western Subalpine Warbler on the Shetland Isles, American Golden Plover in East Sussex, and King Eider in Aberdeenshire.

Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling off the Isle of Man, Golden Oriole, Common Rosefinch and two Red-backed Shrikes on the Orkney Isles, single Marsh Warblers in both Norfolk and the Shetland Isles, with Pectoral Sandpipers in both Cornwall and Norfolk.

Significant late news from northwest Scotland on Wednesday concerned a male Collared Flycatcher at Stoer, Highland, and a Snowy Owl on St Kilda, Western Isles.
