Sunday 9th June 2013
The rarest bird discovered today was a female Collared Flycatcher, the fourth British record of the species this year, on Fair Isle, Shetland, where it was trapped and ringed. A Squacco Heron was at Brading Marsh RSPB, Isle of Wight for a second day, where a Red-rumped Swallow was also seen, and a Caspian Tern spent much of the afternoon at Testwood Lakes HWT, Hampshire, although news wasn't released until it had flown off.

Lingering rarities still present today included both the Black Kite, Bee-eater and Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Red-footed Falcon in Cambridgeshire, Savi's Warbler in Suffolk, single Subalpine Warblers in Conwy and Shetland, Lesser Scaup in Highland, Ferruginous Duck in Somerset and Glossy Ibis in Pembrokeshire.

Scarcity totals involved a White-spotted Bluethroat, a Dotterel, a Common Rosefinch, a Hoopoe, a Grey-headed Wagtail, two Rose-coloured Starlings, two Marsh Warblers, two Long-tailed Skuas and five Red-backed Shrikes.
