Saturday 12th January 2013
The highlight of the day was the discovery of a second Bonaparte's Gull in Glamorgan, at Cardiff, whilst the other remained in position at the Ogmore Estuary. Elsewhere, rarities seen today comprised both American Buff-bellied Pipits still together in Berkshire, the American Coot in County Galway, Western Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, Black-bellied Dipper in Norfolk, single Red-breasted Geese in both Dumfries and Galloway and Hampshire, Richardson's Canada Geese in Argyll and County Sligo, King Eider on the Shetland Isles, Long-billed Dowitcher in Pembrokeshire, Lesser Scaup in both Cornwall and Somerset, and Glossy Ibises in Hampshire and Pembrokeshire.

Scarcities included a Pallas's Warbler in Berkshire at Moor Green Lakes - present for ten days but only identified from photographs today, the Rose-coloured Starling still in Devon, a new Great Grey Shrike in Cornwall, two Rough-legged Buzzards together in Norfolk, and both Richard's Pipit and Cattle Egret in Somerset.
