| The highlight of the day was the discovery of a Laughing Gull in Aberdeenshire and Rosehearty. Found early in the afternoon, the bird continued to show throughout the day. Elsewhere, rarities confirmed as still present today comprised the Rose-breasted Grosbeak on the Isles of Scilly, American Buff-bellied Pipit in Berkshire, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll in Suffolk, Subalpine Warbler in Cornwall, and Lesser Scaups in both Cornwall and Somerset. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Devon), Surf Scoter (County Waterford), American Wigeon (West Yorkshire), Ring-necked Duck (Cornwall), Lesser Snow Goose (County Fermanagh), and Ring-billed Gull (both County Down and County Kerry). Waxwings were recorded across 28 counties between Highland, Fife, the Isles of Scilly and London, and included maximum flocks of 220 in Nottinghamshire, 120 in Lincolnshire, 60 in Suffolk, and 50 in both Essex and South Yorkshire. |
