Friday 3rd August 2012
With no new rarities reported today it was down to the Black-winged Pratincole on Lewis, Western Isles to be, once again, the highlight of the day. The most popular rarity, however, must have been the Alpine Swift at Sheringham, Norfolk, where it was watched by many on and off all day.

Other lingering rarities included the Gull-billed Tern in Ceredigion, Long-billed Dowitcher in Gloucestershire, White-rumped Sandpiper in Lothian, Bonaparte's Gull in Argyll and Glossy Ibis in County Wexford.

Scarcities were headlined by a Night Heron, two Purple Herons and five Pectoral Sandpipers, whilst seabird totals included 1,438 Cory's Shearwaters, 214 Great Shearwaters, two Long-tailed Skuas and a Sabine's Gull.
