Friday 13th April 2012
The highlight of the day was the Black-winged Stilt at Rutland Water, Leicestershire, which relocated from Standlake, Oxfordshire. Perhaps surprisingly, this is the first record for the site, with previous county sightings including pairs in 1987 and 1945. Other new discoveries today included a Glossy Ibis at Ormesby Little Broad, Norfolk, and a Black Kite south-west over Denbury, Devon.

Lingering rarities included the Greater Yellowlegs and King Eider in Aberdeenshire, single Blue-winged Teals in Clyde and Cornwall, Black-winged Stilt in Dorset, two Long-billed Dowitchers and a Spotted Sandpiper in Somerset, White-billed Diver in Highland, Little Bunting in Devon and Ferruginous Duck in Wiltshire. Glossy Ibises were seen in Suffolk, Essex, Pembrokeshire (3) and the Western Isles.
