Friday 10th February 2012
A female Hooded Merganser in Kent may turn out to be bird of the day, if it isn't proven to be another escape. A Red-breasted Goose in Suffolk was with Dark-bellied Brent Geese, and is presumed to be one of the recent presumed wild birds in nearby Essex, rather than one from the feral population in the county. Single new Glossy Ibises were reported from County Cork and Glamorgan.

Long staying rarities included the Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco in Hampshire, Paddyfield Warbler in Sussex, Lesser White-fronted Goose and Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Snowy Owl in County Derry, Red-breasted Goose in Devon, single Blue-winged Teals in the Isles of Scilly and Dumfries and Galloway, Bufflehead in Cornwall, single Ferruginous Ducks in Somerset and Berkshire, single Glossy Ibises in Ceredigion and Devon and single Spotted Sandpipers in Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
