Saturday 17th December 2011  
  In Ireland, a second-winter American Herring Gull was found at Youghal dump, County Cork whilst, nearby, a first-winter female King Eider was in County Kerry, at Reen Pier, Ballinskelligs. A Glossy Ibis was a new arrival to Grove Ferry NNR, Kent.

Long staying rarities seen today included the Western Sandpiper and Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Norfolk, Greater Yellowlegs in Highland, American Buff-bellied Pipit in County Waterford, Least Sandpiper in County Cork, Bufflehead in Cornwall, Hume's Yellow-browed Warbler in Dorset, Desert Wheatear in Northumberland, single Blue-winged Teals in County Dublin and the Isles of Scilly, Spotted Sandpiper in Devon, Glossy Ibis in Lancashire, Ferruginous Duck in Norfolk and single Lesser Scaups in Gloucestershire, Somerset and Northumberland.
