  Extraordinary news today of an Egyptian Nightjar in Shetland at Virkie, Mainland where it remained until dusk; the third British record following records at Rainworth, Nottinghamshire on 23rd June 1883 and Portland Bill, Dorset on 10th June 1984.

Elsewhere discoveries today included a Pallid Harrier briefly in Hertfordshire at Maple Cross, and in Ireland Baird's Sandpipers new in County Donegal at Blanket Nook and at Achill Island, County Mayo.

Continuing rarities today comprised the Long-tailed Shrike along the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire border, Black-winged Kite in Norfolk, Hudsonian Godwit, Zitting Cisticola, Black Stork and Red-footed Falcon in Suffolk, Solitary Sandpiper and Citrine Wagtail together in Scilly, White-throated Sparrow in Fife, Pallid Harrier in Shetland, Bonaparte's Gull in Kent, Baird's Sandpipers in County Kerry and County Wexford, and Ferruginous Ducks in Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire.
