The highlight of the day was news of a Siberian Rubythroat on the Shetland Isles on Foula with nearby an Arctic Redpoll new on Bressay. Discoveries elsewhere comprised a Red-throated Pipit on the Orkney Isles on North Ronaldsay, a Red-flanked Bluetail in Aberdeenshire at Aberdeen, Pallid Swift in Suffolk at Benacre, Ridgway's Cackling Goose in Northumberland at Budle Bay, Ferruginous Duck in Dorset at Lodmoor, and Lesser Scaups in Pembrokeshire at Bosherston and in Kinross at Loch Leven. On the Isles of Scilly the Grey-cheeked Thrush and Yellow-browed Warbler remained on St Mary's, Dusky Warbler on St Agnes, and Sabine's Gull and 284 Great Shearwaters at sea from the Scillonian. Lingering rarities elsewhere confirmed as still present were both Red-headed Bunting and Dusky Warbler in East Yorkshire, Solitary Sandpiper in Kent, Northern Harrier in County Wexford, Pacific Diver in County Cork, Red-breasted Goose and Bonaparte's Gull in Northumberland, Squacco Herons in Cornwall and Somerset, Long-billed Dowitcher in East Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs in Essex, Ferruginous Duck in County Donegal, King Eider on the Western Isles, two Lesser Scaups together in Cornwall, and two White-billed Divers in Lothian. |
