  New discoveries today included a Pied Wheatear at Sotland, Unst, Shetland, a Coues's Arctic Redpoll at Spurn, Yorkshire and a Pallid Swift at Bockhill, Kent.

Lingerers included the Red-headed Bunting in Yorkshire, Lesser Grey Shrike in Argyll, Dusky Warblers in Scilly and Suffolk, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll in Shetland, Solitary Sandpiper in Kent, Upland Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitcher and Azorean Yellow-legged Gull in Cornwall, another Long-billed Dowitcher in Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs' in Lincolnshire and County Louth, Spotted Sandpiper and White-winged Scoter in County Kerry, two Richardson's Cackling Geese in Argyll and one in County Sligo, Squacco Heron in Western Isles and Great-tailed Grackle in Pembrokeshire.

Discoveries today included a new Eastern Stonechat in East Yorkshire at Flamborough Head, four Coues's Arctic Redpoll two in East Yorkshire at Spurn, two on Shetland at Papa Stour and Fair Isle, a Red-throated Pipit in Cornwall at Sennen, Radde's Warbler on Isle of Man at Calf of Man, Pallid Harrier in Somerset at Weston-super-mare on the Axe Estuary, Pallid Swift in East Yorkshire at Spurn, two Dusky Warblers in Orkney on North Ronaldsay

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Red-headed Bunting and Eastern Stonechat in East Yorkshire, Upland Sandpiper in Cornwall, Baird's Sandpiper in County Cork, two Squacco Herons in Somerset and Western Isles respectively, Red-flanked Bluetail in East Yorkshire, Dusky Warblers in County Durham and Suffolk, Long-billed Dowitchers in East Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire and County Louth.

On the Isles of Scilly Dusky Warbler on St Agnes, Red-breasted Flycatcher, Glossy Ibis, Wryneck, and Barred Warbler on St Mary's, whilst around island totals of 16 Yellow-browed Warblers, and seven Little Buntings.

Discoveries today included a Squacco Heron on the Western Isles on South Uist, an Iberian Chiffchaff in County Cork at Clogheen Marsh, Pallid Swift in Norfolk at Horsey, Dusky Warbler and Eastern Stonechat species in Suffolk at Lowestoft, Radde's Warbler and Arctic Redpoll in Northumberland on Holy Island, and a Red-flanked Bluetail on the Shetland Isles at Lerwick, Mainland.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Red-headed Bunting and Eastern Stonechat species together in East Yorkshire, Upland Sandpiper in Cornwall, Northern Harrier and Baird's Sandpiper together in County Wexford, Lesser Grey Shrike and two Richardson's Cackling Geese together in Argyll, Squacco Heron in Somerset, Red-flanked Bluetail in East Yorkshire, Dusky Warbler in County Durham, Long-billed Dowitchers in Cornwall and East Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire and County Louth, and two White-billed Divers together in Moray.

On the Isles of Scilly Rustic Bunting, Red-throated Pipit, and Dusky Warbler were all on St Agnes, with Olive-backed Pipit, Red-breasted Flycatcher, and Glossy Ibis on St Mary's, whilst around island totals of six Yellow-browed Warblers, seven Little Buntings, 45 Great Shearwaters, and 350 Cory's Shearwaters were all logged.

The highlight of the day was the reappearance of the Upland Sandpiper in Cornwall at Sennen near to where it was first been seen on 9th October. Discoveries elsewhere included a Pallid Swift on the Shetland Isles at Lerwick, Mainland, and in Moray a White-billed Diver at Burghead.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Red-headed Bunting, Eastern Stonechat species, Pallid Harrier, and two Blue-winged Teals all in East Yorkshire, Yellow Warbler on Shetland, Lesser Grey Shrike in Argyll, Squacco Heron in Somerset, Baird's Sandpiper and White-rumped Sandpiper in County Cork, Red-breasted Geese in Argyll and Northumberland, White-billed Divers in Lothian and East Yorkshire, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire and County Louth, and Long-billed Dowitchers in Cornwall, Norfolk, and East Sussex.

On the Isles of Scilly a Red-throated Pipit was new on St Agnes, with around island totals of two each of both Little Bunting and Lapland Bunting, three of Red-breasted Flycatcher and Yellow-browed Warbler, Sabine's Gull, Pomarine Skua, Grey Phalarope, 245 Cory's Shearwaters, and 1,172 Great Shearwaters.

  In Yorkshire, the identity of the Red-headed Bunting at Flamborough was confirmed, with it remaining present all day.

New discoveries today included a Pied Wheatear at Lowestoft, Suffolk, a Coues's Arctic Redpoll at Vidlin, Shetland, an Olive-backed Pipit on Holy Island, Northumberland, a Red-throated Pipit at Porthloo, Scilly, a Dusky Warbler at Freswick, Highland, a Pallid Swift over Minsmere, Suffolk, single Pallid Harriers at Stone Creek, Yorkshire and Loch Heilen, Highland, a Long-billed Dowitcher at Walmsley Sanctuary, Cornwall, a Baird's Sandpiper and a White-rumped Sandpiper at Harper's Island, County Cork, a Bonaparte's Gull at Morning Point, Scilly and a White-billed Diver off Port Seton, Lothian.

Other lingering rarities still present included the Yellow Warbler in Shetland, Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Red-footed Booby in Scilly, Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, Squacco Heron in Somerset, single Lesser Yellowlegs' in Lincolnshire and Cumbria, single Long-billed Dowitchers in Sussex, Norfolk and County Cork, Baird's Sandpiper in County Cork, Blue-winged Teal in Yorkshire, Azorean Yellow-legged Gull in Cornwall, Red-flanked Bluetail and Eastern Stonechat species in Yorkshire and Pallid Swift in Kent.

  In Shetland, the warbler at Skibberhoull, Whalsay was trapped, and reidentified as the first Western Olivaceous Warbler for Britain. A Black-headed or Red-headed Bunting was at Flamborough Head, Yorkshire, along with the lingering Eastern Stonechat species.

A Radde's Warbler was at Ampthill, Bedfordshire, with other new discoveries including an Olive-backed Pipit at Welwick, Yorkshire, single Coues's Arctic Redpolls on Foula, Unst and Mainland Shetland, single Pallid Swifts at Foreness Point, Kent and West Runton, Norfolk, an Alpine Swift at Cley, Norfolk, a Baird's Sandpiper at South Slob, County Wexford and a White-rumped Sandpiper at Owenahincha, County Cork.

Lingering rarities included the Yellow Warbler in Shetland, Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Lesser Grey Shrike in Argyll, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll and Coues's Arctic Redpoll in Shetland, Red-flanked Bluetail in Yorkshire, Long-billed Dowitcher in Sussex, Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire and White-rumped Sandpiper in County Derry.

Friday 20th October 2023  
  An Eastern Olivaceous Warbler was discovered at Skibberhoull, Whalsay, Shetland this afternoon, and a Great Snipe was seen briefly at Gunton, Suffolk. Other new rarities today included a Pied Wheatear at Montrose, Angus, a Grey-cheeked Thrush on Inishbofin, County Galway, a Gull-billed Tern off Seasalter, Kent and a Coues's Arctic Redpoll at Houbie, Fetlar, Shetland.

Lingering rarities included the Yellow Warbler in Shetland, Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Lesser Grey Shrike and Red-breasted Goose in Argyll, Semipalmated Sandpiper in County Cork, Long-billed Dowitcher in Sussex, single Pallid Harriers in Dorset and Devon and Blue-winged Teal in Yorkshire.

Seawatching on the Scottish east coast and north-east England provided much of the news today. Around 128 Leach's Petrels were reported, including high counts of at least 70 off South Queensferry, Lothian and ten off Isle of May, Fife, 215 Storm Petrels, including 58 off Fisherrow, Lothian and 42 off Kinghorn and 27 off Isle of May, both Fife and 70 Grey Phalaropes, including 21 off South Queensferry, Lothian and ten at Newbiggin, Northumberlan, along with 48 Little Auks, two Sabine's Gulls, 23 Long-tailed Skuas, 53 Pomarine Skuas, whilst in Scilly at least 377 Cory's Shearwaters and 48 Great Shearwaters were recorded.

Other scarcity totals included a Red-breasted Flycatcher, a Barred Warbler, a Wryneck, two Richard's Pipits, two Northern Treecreepers, three Little Buntings, four Great Grey Shrikes, eight Lapland Buntings, 18 Yellow-browed Warblers, around 205 Waxwings, a Black-bellied Dipper, a Purple Heron, eight Glossy Ibises, a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Surf Scoter, two American Wigeon, three Ring-necked Ducks and two American Golden Plovers.

Thursday 19th October 2023  
 

Discoveries today included Wilson's Phalarope and Semipalmated Sandpiper together in County Cork at Ballycotton, a Pallid Harrier in Devon on Lundy, an Eastern Stonechat species in East Yorkshire at Flamborough Head, a Ferruginous Duck in County Donegal at Inch, and Olive-backed Pipits both in Cleveland at Hartlepool and on the Isle of May, Fife.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Forster's Tern in Dorset, Lesser Grey Shrike and Red-breasted Goose in Argyll, Pallid Harrier in Dorset, Long-billed Dowitcher in East Sussex, and White-billed Diver in East Yorkshire.

On the Isles of Scilly a Surf Scoter arrived on St Mary's where two Little Buntings, Rose-coloured Starling, Glossy Ibis, and Lapland Bunting were all seen, with around island totals of two Richard's Pipits, two Wrynecks, and six Yellow-browed Warblers.

Discoveries today included the second Taiga Merlin for Ireland in County Clare at Bridges of Ross, on the Orkney Isles a White's Thrush on Papa Westray, a Red-flanked Bluetail on North Ronaldsay, and a Dusky Warbler on Westray, in Dorset a Pallid Harrier at Wyke Down, in East Yorkshire a White-billed Diver at Flamborough Head, a Radde's Warbler at Spurn, and a Red-flanked Bluetail at Easington, and in County Durham a Dusky Warbler at Whitburn.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Yellow Warbler on the Shetland Isles, Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Lesser Grey Shrike in Argyll, both a further Red-flanked Bluetail and a further Radde's Warbler in East Yorkshire, Red-breasted Goose in Northumberland, Long-billed Dowitcher in East Sussex, and a Lesser Yellowlegs in Lincolnshire.

On the Isles of Scilly four Little Buntings, a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Lapland Bunting were located on St Mary's with around the islands Sabine's Gull, Pomarine Skua, four Yellow-browed Warblers, seven Balearic Shearwaters, 15 Cory's Shearwaters, and 40 Great Shearwaters.

Discoveries today included in East Yorkshire at Radde's Warbler at Flamborough Head and a Red-flanked Bluetail at Kilnsea, a Black Kite in Somerset at Blean, and a Ferruginous Duck in Worcestershire at Clifton.

Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Yellow Warbler and Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll on the Shetland Isles, the Black-and-white Warbler in County Galway, Lesser Grey Shrike in Argyll, Red-breasted Goose in Northumberland, Semipalmated Sandpipers in both County Dublin and Lincolnshire, Long-billed Dowitchers in Norfolk and East Sussex, and Lesser Yellowlegs in County Donegal, Essex, and Lincolnshire.

On the Isles of Scilly three Little Buntings were located on St Mary's with around the islands Red-backed Shrike, Lapland Bunting, Sabine's Gull, theee Yellow-browed Warblers, and four Cory's Shearwaters.
