| Rarities seen today included the Forster's Tern at Arne RSPB, Dorset, a Caspian Tern on South Slob, County Wexford, Black-winged Pratincole at Blanket Nook, County Donegal, Long-billed Dowitcher at Cley, Norfolk, Black-winged Stilts in Yorkshire (five), Lincolnshire (ten) and Kent (six), Bonaparte's Gull at Oare, Kent, Black-headed Wagtail on Myroe Levels, County Derry and three Bee-eaters at Trimingham, Norfolk.
Seawatching and pelagic trips produced totals of eight Wilson's Petrels, six Sabine's Gulls, a Long-tailed Skua, three Pomarine Skuas, 16 Balearic Shearwaters, at least 293 Great Shearwaters and an impressive 6,400 Cory's Shearwaters, including 4,104 off Galley Head in County Cork. Scarcity highlights included a Rose-coloured Starling, a Pectoral Sandpiper, two American Golden Plovers, two Honey Buzzards, six Glossy Ibises, a Surf Scoter, two Ring-necked Ducks, a Tundra Bean Goose, an Iceland Gull and three Glaucous Gulls. |
