Discoveries today included a Spotted Sandpiper in County Kildare at Leixlip, an Olive-backed Pipit on the Shetland Isles on Mainland at Lerwick, and a Pallid Swift in Highland at Ardsersier. Lingering rarities confirmed as still present were the Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, White-winged Scoter in Lothian, both Wilson's Snipe and Dusky Warbler on the Isles of Scilly, Pied Wheatear, Black Scoter and Bonaparte's Gull in Northumberland, Pallid Harrier and Long-billed Dowitcher in Norfolk, Red-throated Pipit and Dusky Warbler on Shetland, two Red-rumped Swallows together in Kent, Lesser Yellowlegs in Aberdeenshire, and White-rumped Sandpiper on the Western Isles. Scarcities included Rose-coloured Starling (Argyll), Common Rosefinch (Dumfries and Galloway), Wryneck (East Sussex), American Wigeon (Lincolnshire), Green-winged Teal (Norfolk), two Lapland Buntings, three Ring-necked Ducks, four Long-tailed Skuas, five each of both Sabine's Gull and Shorelark, 11 Glossy Ibises, 15 Great Shearwaters, and a total of 41 Waxwings. |
