New discoveries today included a Hume's Warbler on North Ronaldsay, Orkney, single Dusky Warblers at Lehanmore and on Cape Clear, both County Cork, a Booted or Sykes's Warbler on Lundy, Devon, a Red-flanked Bluetail on Bardsey Island, Gwynedd, a Red-throated Pipit over Sand Point, Somerset, Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll at Lerwick, Shetland, single Pallid Harriers at Blakeney/Cley and Walcott, both Norfolk, single Lesser Scaups at Loch Bee, Western Isles and Dunfanaghy, County Donegal and a Richardson's Cackling Goose at Lissadell, County Sligo.
Pallid Swifts were at Catterline, Aberdeenshire, St Abb's Head, Borders (four), Howick, Norhumberland (three), Bempton Cliffs, Yorkshire (two) and West Runton, Norfolk. Lingering rarities seen today included the Alpine Accentor in Suffolk (briefly at roost early morning before flying off), Blackburnian Warbler, Wilson's Snipe and Red-rumped Swallow in Scilly, Red-eyed Vireo and Isabelline Wheatear in County Cork, Subalpine Warbler species and Eastern Stonechat species in Northumberland, Double-crested Cormorant in County Leitrim, Collared Pratincole in Gloucestershire, single Lesser Yellowlegs in Orkney, Cleveland and Merseyside, single Long-billed Dowitchers in Cheshire and Norfolk, Blue-winged Teal in Lincolnshire, King Eider in Shetland, Ferruginous Duck in County Donegal, Red-breasted Goose and Cackling Goose in Western Isles (with another of the latter in Argyll) and Bonaparte's Gull in County Kerry. |
