Southern vagrants today comprised the Crag Martin still on the Isles of Scilly,
Black-winged Stilt in Merseyside, Short-toed Lark in Cornwall, Purple Heron in Kent,
Red-rumped Swallows in both Cornwall and Lincolnshire, five Hoopoes, and fly-over
Black Kites in Cheshire, County Cork, Cornwall, Dorset, London, and Suffolk. Othwer rarities today were the Pacific Golden Plover still in Suffolk, both Red-breasted Goose and Dusky Warbler in Norfolk, Blue-winged Teals in Cambridgeshire and County Wexford, King Eiders in Highland and Lothian, Lesser Yellowlegs in County Cork, County Wexford, and Suffolk, White-billed Diver in Moray, and two Lesser Scaups together in Staffordshire. Scarcities included Red-backed Shrike, Temminck's Stint, and Dotterel (Norfolk), Wryneck (Scilly), American Wigeon (Northumberland), Green-winged Teal (County Wexford), two Little Buntings, four Surf Scoters, six Ring-necked Ducks, and a total of 21 Glossy Ibises. |
